Since 1984, the mission of SETI - (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe. They have ginormous antennas pointed to the skies looking for signs of life out there. You can even download a screen saver and help them calculate the data. The interview below is with
