A Message from the ex-wife of Philip Schneider

A Small Introduction

Intro by Cynthia Drayer

My name is Cynthia Drayer, I live in Portland, Oregon, and I am the
ex-wife of Philip Schneider. Philip and I met in 1986, were married in
Carson City, Nevada, and had a daughter, Marie, in 1987. We were
divorced in 1990 and lived in separate residences. Philip lived in an

apartment complex in Wilsonville, Oregon. On 1/17/1996 I received a
call that Philip was dead in his apartment and apparently had died up

to a week before his body was discovered. At the time of the removal
of his body, his cause of death was by a stroke. When I went to the
funeral home I had feelings of discomfort about his death. I asked to

view the body, but due to decomposition, the funeral director
suggested otherwise. I wanted to be sure, in my own mind,. that Philip
had not died under "unnatural causes". For the last two years of his
life, Philip had been on the "lecture tour" throughout the United
States, talking out about government coverups. You name it, he was
talking about it: Aliens (treaties and abductions), UFO's, the One
World Government, Black Budgets, Underground Mountain Bases, CIA
involvement in civilian murders and drugs, Stealth technology, the
Philadelphia Experiment, Operation Crossroads (Bikini Island A-bomb
experiments), Dulce Fire Fight, the Oklahoma bombing, the World Trade

Center bombing, missing children, Gunderson Freight Cars, the opening
of concentration camps and Marshal Law/UN involvement, man-made
viruses and earthquakes, etc.etc.

A day later, I received a call from the Clackamas County Detectives,
that the funeral director had found "something" around Philip's neck.

An autopsy was performed at the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's
office (in Portland, Oregon) by Dr. Gunson, and she determined that
Philip had committed suicide by wrapping a rubber cathater hose three
times around his neck, and half-knotting it in front. There are
several reasons why I believe that Philip did not commit suicide, but
was murdered:

1. There was no suicide note.
2. Philip always told his friends and relatives, that if he ever
"committed suicide" you would know that he had been murdered.
3. From a number of sources, including his taped lectures (video and
audio), and statements to his friends, and the borrowing of a 9mm
gun, Philip felt that he and his family were being threatened and
were in danger because of his lecutres.
4. All of his lecture materials, alien metals, higher math books,
photographs of UFO's coming out of the Operation Crossroad
A-Bomb, notes for his book on the alien agenda, were missing.
(Everything else in the apartment was still there, including gold
coins, wallet with hundreds of dollars, jewelry, mineral
specimens, etc.)
5. No coroner ever came out to his apartment after his body was
found (against Oregon Law) - and a police investigation never
took under consideration that items were missing from his
apartment - it was considered a suicide, plain and simple
6. The medical examiner took blood and urine samples at the autopsy

but REFUSED to analyze them, saying that the county would not
"waste their money on a suicide". Although I was assured that
the samples would be kept for 12 months, when I asked for these
samples to be sent to an independent lab 11 months later they
were "missing" and presumed "destroyed".
7. Philip had missing fingers on his left hand, and limited motion
in his shoulders. I believe that it was physically impossible for
Philip to have held the rubber hose in his left hand with missing
fingers and then wrap the hose three times with shoulders that
had limited motion. In order to end up where his body was, he had
to sit on the edge of his bed, wrap the hose around his neck,
slowly and painfully strangle to death, and fallen head first
into a wheel chair.
8. Philip was an expert in chemicals and his own medical needs. He
had multiple pills at hand that could have ended his life quickly
and painlessly. He also had a 9mm gun that he had borrowed to
protect himself. Why strangle himself in such an unusual manner?

9. Philip was very religious, and did not believe in suicide. He had
intense chronic pain all of the time I knew him. At the time of
his death, he was on disability, had a housekeeper, and had
cancer. The operation to help him with his back pain did not
alleviate the pain and he had brittle bone syndrome
(osteoperosis). He struggled every day, not to die, but to live.

He felt that these lectures he gave was making a difference, and
was looking forward to giving more. In fact he was scheduled for
another lecture tour that started 1/16/96 in Tampa, Florida. He
had just found a friend who was going to help him write a book
about the New World Order, and he was enjoying his time with his
daughter.

10. Philip was undergoing "injections" of "Beta Serone" every week in
an experiment to stop his multiple sclerosis. After his death I
contacted the only agency that conducted these experiments to
obtain his medical record (OHSU). They had never heard of him,
and he was not a part of their experiments. This would suggest
people unknown were injecting him on a weekly basis with an
unknown substance. He often times called me after these "shots"
to tell me that he was too sick for his daughter to come and
visit. I believe that the shots that Philip thought were being
given to him to help him back to health, were actually being
given to him to make him sick.
11. Philip was seen with an "unknown blonde haired woman" for several
months before his death. Several times this same individual was
seen or talked about and her mysterious presence only leads one
to wonder if she had anything to do with his "suicide".
12. Several people with psychic abilities have indicated that Philip
did not commit suicide, but was murdered (some say by 5 people: 4
men and 1 woman, 4 directly and one by taking out a "contract".

It is perhaps important to know WHY Philip began lecturing.
Firstly: His background was as a Structural Engineer. He was an expert
on explosives and their effects on geologic structures. He worked
under two social security numbers. Most of his early work in
underground mountain bases with Morrison-Knudsen was done using the
wrong social security number. I was later able to prove that he had
two numbers through the social security office when I applied for his
daughter's death benefits. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers
and U.S. Navy with the same wrong number. Only after he obtained SSI
in 1981 did his "real" number come into play. He always told me that
he had a Rhyolitic Clearance and that his father had a Cosmic
Clearance from his work with NATO. And that is the second reason why
Philip began lecturing.

Secondly: On top of his first hand knowledge about underground
mountain bases and government black budgets, and the alien agend as (he
was one of the survivors of the Dulce Fire Fight with aliens in New
Mexico) his father was also involved in government black projects.
When Philip's father, Captain Oscar Schneider, Medical Doctor, United

States Navy, died in 1993, Philip discovered documents and photographs
in his father's basement which proved that Oscar had been involved in
both the Philadelphia Experiment and Operation Crossroads. Philip now
had letters written in the 1940's and 1950's showing that Oscar helped
to isolate the crewmembers of the Philadelphia Experiment and that
Oscar later autopsied them as they died. He also had photographs of
UFO's fleeing through mushroom clouds after the A-bomb was dropped
above the lagoon at Bikini Atoll. This was "Operation Crossroads" and

Oscar was involved in medical examinations of the animals and humans
exposed to radiation after the bomb was dropped.

Thirdly: I believe the main reason why Philip began to lecture was due
to the "murder" of his friend Ron Rummel. Ron was found in a park in
Portland in Sept. 1993. The police believed that he had committed
suicide by shooting himself in the mouth. However, if you read the
detectives report, there is blow-back blood on Ron's hand, but NO
BLOW-BACK BLOOD ON THE GUN. The only way this could happen is if Ron
had wiped the gun off AFTER he had shot himself in the mouth. Ron,
Philip, and 5 other people had been collaborating on a little magazine
called "The Alien Digest". It was starting to get a fairly wide
circulation, when Ron was found in the park. Philip felt that his
friend had been murdered, and decided that it was time to get
everything out into the open, so he began "spilling the beans", and
ripped up his security clearance card.

Pufori, through Jeroen Wierda, is one of several agencies and
individuals that have taken up the call for justice in Philip's death.

My hopes are:

1. That Philip's death certificate will eventually be amended with
the true cause of his death: murder.
2. That the world will come to know the truth about aliens, UFO's,
the government cover-ups, black budgets, etc. and how they are
affecting us.
3. That assets that belong to his only heir, Marie, can be located
and turned over to her.
4. That Philip's true work quarters can be proven by people coming
forward with information about knowing him before 1981, and that
his daughter can eventually obtain the death benefits she
deserves.
5. That no more "murders by suicide" ever occur to another
individual.

Mr. Philip Schneider wasa very couragous man. Even being ill and in pain,
He wanted us to know what was happening in our country. I can only hope that
those who listened to him became aware of our corrupted government. People
can't change anything if they don't have information. I believe his wife is
truly a brave woman. She is doing her best to clear his name. She also is in
danger. I hope getting this information out will help everyone connected with
Mr. Schneider.

Over 200 sightings of UFO in Itatira, Brazil - CUB says: "It`s not a star, meteor, or the moon."

The Brazilian Ufology Center, or Centro de Ufologia Brasileiro (CUB), analyzed the sightings and reported that the object is not a star, an asteroid, and it is impossible that it is the moon. But they can also not confirm if the object that has been frightening the population of Itatira is an alien spacecraft. The picture taken by Amanda Silva Gomes, 18, shows a bright light at night and was taken while she walked home from night school.

Itatira is a small town, 216 km from Fortaleza, on the northeastern coast of Brazil. Most of the 17.689 inhabitants of the town report to be frightened by the constant sightings that have been occurring, and some report to have become sick after the sightings happened. Authorities say the case is being investigated. The reports have fascinated students from a nearby city and some have visited the town in the hopes to "see something", including Amanda, who shot the photograph. Since the event, Amanda and her friends Ana Patrícia do Nascimento, 16, Francisca Claudiana Silva Uchôa, 17, and Maria Katiele Martins Alves, 17, have been followed by the "objects" and even decided to change their school schedule to avoid returning home at night, when the objects were most frequently seen - they have to walk 4 km to get home.

According to officer Dalton Junior, the report given by Luis Denis Menezes who saw the lights is "strange", since he says he was also followed by a yellow light and that it emmited an intense "heat", while riding home on his motorcicle. He mentioned he tried to run away but his bike's battery "died suddenly" and he ran frightened to the bushes and had minor injuries.

More than 200 sightings have been reported in Itatira. According to UFOlogist Agobar Peixoto, the occurence has been repeating itself in the same region every 9 or 10 years. He mentions that there are apparently two UFO "routes" in the region, and they connect nearby cities, forming a "circle".

Brigadier-General Arthur Exon, the former commanding officer of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, made a bizarre claim. In Whitley Strieber’s 1998 book Confirmation--The Hard Evidence of Aliens Among Us, the Brigadier-General claimed that in July of 1947, an extraterrestrial craft crashed in New Mexico. Will Obama discuss UFO 'X-Files' on Canada trip (today)?

US President Barack Obama will visit Canada Thursday, on his first trip outside the country, with economic concerns expected to top his agenda. Green energy is of major interest in Michigan, home to the struggling US auto industry, which operates plants in Ontario and generates jobs and income for Canadian workers. There is concern in Ottawa that the massive 787-billion-dollar stimulus plan passed by Congress Friday which Obama is expected to sign into law Tuesday in Denver, Colorado will include mandates to 'Buy American'.

But a bombshell announcement by a Toronto based media watchdog group that the Canadian government has sanctioned access to approximately 9,500 UFO files through a governmental archives website may add a vital item to the discussion agenda: The global economic and environmental imperative to address the presence of UFO craft in increasing numbers world wide in a clear and transparent manner.

The substantial compilation of UFO documents in Canada’s archives represents the single largest disclosure of UFO files to date by a G8 nation. Canada joins England, France, Brazil, Mexico and most recently Denmark in dropping the pretense of denial and opening their UFO/ET files to the public.

The Canadian move serves as an example by America's biggest trading partner that the civilian population can 'handle the truth'. More importantly it is another step down a path Exopolitics observers say will inevitably lead to U.S. admission that some UFOs in fact represent alien craft operating in Earth's biosphere.

Faced with multiple simultaneous crises of economy, energy, environment and a profound mandate for change by the American electorate, Obama must consider that it's time to recognize the existence of non-humans openly operating advanced technology in earth's biosphere for what they are. Denial has become self-caricature at this point. UFO sightings have doubled in England since the U.K MOD opened their files.

Opposing admission is an entrenched military-industrial complex that up until recently wielded enormous power and has vested interests in endless war and endless growth as the basis for economic and social status quo. As former Vice President Dick Cheney once put it, "The American way of life is not negotiable."

That may have been true from an ideological standpoint, but it is demonstrably false as the economic security based among other things on a hydro-carbon fuel economy and astronomical military expenditures has vanished.

Admitting there are UFO's operating in US airspace — a fact obvious to the citizens of Phoenix, Arizona, Stephenville, Texas, the Hudson Valley and observers across the country—is the first step to a reconciliation of American society with the reality of the 21st century. The denial of the obvious, while arguably sensible in 1947, is a policy which has outgrown its usefulness by several decades.

The downside may be a certain amount of culture shock, but America has been shocked to its core by the suddenness and depth of the depression that is removing economic security from the middle and lower class at an alarming rate.

The promise of the Obama administration is new jobs with new technologies that are environmentally friendly, renewable and an energy policy that removes the need to wage war for strategic access to the remaining drops of ancient sunlight. It is also a promise of a government open and transparent in its efforts to be of the people, by the people and for the people. Obama's transition team and adminstration is filled with intelligent people who believe in extraterrestrial diplomacy.

There is little political risk in opening up the government and corporate X-files to public scrutiny. Far more people feel the government is dishonest about the issue than voted for Obama's platform.

Obama was put in office by 52.9% of the popular vote in the 2008 election.

In a 1997 CNN/Time poll, 80 percent of Americans indicated that they think the government is hiding knowledge of the existence of extraterrestrial life forms. Sixty-four percent of the respondents said that aliens have contacted humans.

In a 2002 Roper poll, more than two-thirds of Americans say that the government is not telling the public everything it knows about UFO activity (72 percent) or extraterrestrial life (68 percent).

Opening up the Government and corporate X-files would be a major first step towards the ultimate historic achievement for an American President: The establishment of a cabinet level Department of Extraterrestrial Affairs, opening of diplomatic relations with receptive alien races and the establishment of cultural, economic and technological relations between citizens of Earth and citizens of other planets. Or dimensions, as the case may prove to be.

The President has signaled his intention to dialog with Iran while maintaining a firm stance on the security of the United States in the process.

One cannot help but wonder if a short discussion with Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the Canadian disclosure might give him the impetus to take the bold leadership step that must be taken before he can sit down at the table with a humanoid race from another planet and conduct truly world changing diplomacy.

The President's first international trip would be as good a place as any to begin to establish a global consensus among the G-8 leadership that a united and coherent policy of extraterrestrial diplomacy is in the best strategic interest of not only each member nation, but the entire planet. The peace, energy and environmental benefits of trade and cultural exchange with alien races would be incalculable and might be the only thing more enormous than the scale of the global economic melt-down now facing the planet's leadership.

In that light, it makes perfect sense for the new President to ask the Prime Minister to help formulate world ET diplomatic policy.

Prior to his trip to Canada, President Obama will be in Phoenix to discuss the housing issue and then in Denver to sign the stimulus package. It is perhaps not entirely coincidental that Phoenix and Denver, along with Honolulu in the President's home state, are focal points of the exopolitical movement outside of Washington, D.C.

Are Extraterrestrials the Enemy?

Hillary Clinton is currently visiting Japan and other Asian nations to promote improved diplomatic relations. Clinton may be interested to learn that on December 20, 2007, the Japanese Defense Minister at the time, Shigeru Ishiba, publicly commented on his nation's defense policy concerning a possible extraterrestrial attack. He said: "If they descended, saying `People of the Earth, let's make friends,' it would not be considered an urgent, unjust attack on our country." Secretary Clinton might then recall her own public comment about numerous Hollywood depictions of extraterrestrials as invaders.

During the 2008 Presidential election campaign she commented about Hollywood movies of extraterrestrials invading earth and the unifying effect this would have. On December 17, 2007 she said: "Remember that movie Independence Day, where invaders were coming from outer space and the whole world was united against the invasion? Why can't we be united on behalf of our planet? And that's what I want to do.” She made similar comments while First Lady in the Clinton White House. Clinton’s views about the appearance or ‘invasion’ of extraterrestrial life playing a unifying planetary effect takes on special significance with her current role as U.S. Secretary of State.

Secretary Clinton’s views mirror comments by former President Ronald Reagan who also believed in the unifying planetary effect of an extraterrestrial invasion. The most famous in a series of public statements concerning an extraterrestrial invasion was President Reagan’s speech before the United Nations General Assembly on September 21, 1987:

In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside of this world. And yet I ask - is not an alien force already among us?

Reagan and Clinton were not the first prominent public figures in the U.S. to reflect on the unifying effect of an extraterrestrial invasion. On October 8, 1955, General Douglas MacArthur made the first of two public statements concerning the possibility of an extraterrestrial invasion:

The nations of the world will have to unite, for the next war will be an interplanetary war. The nations of the earth must someday make a common front against attack by people from other planets.

General MacArthur had knowledge of classified military involvement in the UFO issue starting from the Second World War. He was allegedly involved in the creation of an Interplanetary Phenomenon Unit (IPU) after the 1942 Los Angeles Air Raid involving UFOs. The IPU’s existence was eventually confirmed by Army responses to FOIA requests in 1984. Given MacArthur’s senior military assignments, and alleged role in the IPU, he was aware of official military records concerning UFOs. This contributed to his belief that extraterrestrials formed a national security threat that could unify the countries of the world.

Were both Clinton and Reagan publicly reflecting on an extraterrestrial invasion scenario that they had been privately briefed about from sources familiar with national security files? According to an alleged briefing document, President Reagan did receive an official briefing of extraterrestrial life by his national security advisors. While debate continues over the veracity over the Reagan Briefing Document, other events point to him having received an official briefing. According to Hollywood television producer, Jamie Shandera, Reagan confided to Stephen Spielberg after a special White House film screening his knowledge of the existence of extraterrestrial life. It appears that President Reagan and other public officials have been briefed in ways that led them to conclude that extraterrestrials are the enemy. This enemy image making of extraterrestrials and Hollywood's role in promoting such images is something to which Clinton will eventually have to respond. Perhaps her Japan visit will provide her insights into how she could present a more diplomatic response to extraterrestrial life visiting Earth.

Canada releases UFO X-Files to the World

The Canadian Government has authorized open public access to thousands of federal government documents concerning UFOs. A total of 9500 digitized documents spanning the years 1947 to the early 1980s have been made available through the Library and Archives Canada website. Titled “Canada's UFOs: The Search for the Unknown” the files include correspondence, reports, memos and procedures, some of which specifically deal with UFOs. The files come from Canada’s National Defense Department, the Department of Transport, the National Research Council, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Canada’s online release of its UFO X-Files follows closely upon the release at the end of January of Denmark's UFO files. Britain continues to release thousands of UFO files through a program of gradual releases it began in May 2007 through its national archives with the most recent being on October 2008. The French Space Agency had earlier announced on March 22, 2007, that it was making public its secret UFO files through a government website.

The important difference between the released Canadian UFO files with other country releases is the inclusion of departmental analyses rather than simply reports of UFO sightings. According to Victor Viggiani from Exopolitics Toronto , who has been monitoring the Canadian Government UFO website since its inception, “The Canadian files do not simply list UFO sightings; they describe actions, meetings and inter-departmental memoranda generated by Canadian officials that attempt to make sense of the considerable onslaught of UFO sightings as well as referencing American problems with keeping abreast of UFO sightings.”

For example, a September 1967 memo titled "Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) - Investigations", was released which stated:

a number of investigations of the reports suggest the possibility of UFOs exhibiting some unique scientific information or advanced technology which could possibly contribute to scientific or technical research.

Another memo details a UFO sighting at Shag Harbor witnessed by member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and six civilian witnesses on the night of October 4, 1967. The memo describes how “[w]itnesses reported seeing an object 60 feet in length moving in an easterly direction before it descended rapidly into the water, making a bright splash on impact.” The report continued: “A single white light appeared on the surface of the water for a short period of time. The RCMP, with help from local fishermen and their boats, endeavoured to reach the object before it sank completely.”

Undoubtedly the most significant documents are those associated with a 1950-1952 classified investigation and analysis of UFOs by a Department of Transportation team led by Wilbert Smith, a senior radio engineer. In his Project Magnet Report, Smith commented extensively on the flight performance of UFOs that were far in advance to anything known at the time:

… it is difficult to reconcile this performance with the capabilities of our technology, and unless the technology of some terrestrial nation is much more advanced than is generally known, we are forced to the conclusion that the vehicles are probably extra-terrestrial, in spite of our prejudices to the contrary."

Not all of the information made available through the Canadian archives is completely new to UFO researchers - many having been released in the 1980s in 16mm microfilm form through libraries in Canada and the U.S. The Library and Archive website, however, now provides a comprehensive online resource for the world public and media to scrutinize the Canadian Government UFO X-Files. Canada first began to release UFO files through its online archive in October 2007, and these have quickly increased to its present level of 9500 files. Canada therefore joins a select group of countries that have so far publicly released UFO files through government sponsored websites. As President Obama heads to Canada on February 19, he could take time from his busy schedule to ask Prime Minister Steven Harper for tips on how the U.S. might release to the public its own classified UFO X-Files.

Artist Explores Myths of Nazi UFO Technology

Did Hitler develop top-secret flying saucers? One Polish artist is looking at myths of secret Nazi technology in a new exhibition at the site where the notorious V-2 rocket was developed in the German coastal city of Peenemünde.

The Nazis weren't defeated at the end of World War II. Instead, they fled to Antarctica in a flying saucer constructed by Nazi scientists, where the SS continued their struggle against Freemasons from a secret base in the German colony of New Swabia. The Americans would later launch the Antarctic expedition Operation Highjump in 1946 in a bid to capture the Nazis' flying saucer technology.

That, at least, is one version of events. Such far-fetched theories about Nazi flying saucers are deconstructed in a new exhibition by Polish artist Hubert Czerepok which opens Thursday at Peenemünde Historical Technical Information Center on Germany's Baltic coast.

"I'm concerned with questioning official versions of history, which are not always true," says Czerepok. "I'm interested in asking which version is really true."

The exhibition is entitled Haunebu, one of several names for the alleged flying saucer project, which are also referred to as Reichsflugscheiben ("Reich flying discs"), Vril discs or V-7s. According to believers, the disks were up to 71 meters (230 feet) in diameter and could reach speeds of up to 5,000 kilometers per hour (3,100 miles per hour).

Peenemünde is an appropriate location for exploring such topics, given that it was where the German V-2 rockets were developed during World War II; some ufologists believe the Haunebu project was an offshoot of the V-2 program. In fact, many aspects of the UFO conspiracy theories in circulation are inspired by real events relating to the V-2 -- such as the idea that the Allies seized the flying saucer technology at the end of the war and took the Nazi scientists to the United States to continue their work in secret. However, there is no historical evidence that any flying saucer program ever existed.

Between Fact and Fiction

One of the strands that feeds into ufologists' fertile imaginations is a peculiar structure located outside the village of Nowa Ruba in Poland's Owl Mountains, a part of the country which belonged to Germany up until 1945. The mysterious construction consists of a dozen concrete pillars arranged in a circle with a ring around the top. No one has ever been able to come up with a definitive explanation of what the Nazis used it for -- prompting ufologists to speculate it was used in the alleged Haunebu project.

"There's no other structure like it," says Czerepok, who has visited the site, which was featured in a BBC documentary. "Some believe it was some kind of storage facility or an ammunition factory. Others believe it was used for an anti-gravity engine." A large-format photograph of the structure forms part of the exhibition, which also includes a scale model of a Nazi flying saucer and what are alleged to be photographs, some clearly doctored, and design sketches of the UFOs.

Czerepok, who says he has always been fascinated by urban myths and conspiracy theories, was inspired by works by the sensationalist Polish historian Igor Witkowski. He also found a wealth of material on the many Web sites devoted to Nazi secret technology.

Some of the sites go into extraordinary detail about the supposed Nazi UFOs, featuring information about specifications and test flights. "The Vril 1 Jäger (Hunter) was constructed in 1941 and first flew in 1942," reads one site. "It was 11.5 meters in diameter, had a single pilot, and could achieve speeds of between 2,900 kilometers (1,800 miles) per hour and 12,000 kilometers per hour!"

The sites are illustrated with -- inevitably blurry -- photos, artists' renditions and technical drawings which purport to show the advanced technology described. The authors also discuss at length the role of supposed Nazi secret societies such as the Order of the Black Sun or the Vril Society. "I've met people who really think it's true," says Czerepok.

However, the artist insists his aim is not to poke fun at people who believe in the theories. "The project deals with history, which is not like science," he says. "Instead, it consists of several small narratives." He feels artists often occupy the gray area between fact and fiction. "As an artist, you are in a position to reconstruct things which did not exist, things which are not certain."

In the past, theories about a Nazi UFO program gained particular traction in Germany's radical right, neo-Nazi communities. But Czerepok isn't concerned about his exhibition becoming a magnet for the neo-Nazi fringe. "It's not a show dedicated to them and I am not trying to get their special attention," he says. "It's an exhibition about history, which has been seen by some people as science fiction and by others as true historical facts. It's open for all possible interpretations and different audiences."

Does he believe in UFOs himself? "I'm kind of in between. You have skeptical days and days when you believe in things. As they say, the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us."

The exhibition "Haunebu" runs at the Peenemünde Historical Technical Information Center from Feb. 12 until April 19, 2009.

FAA says Texas fireball was meteor, not a UFO

DALLAS -- The fireball that streaked across the sky and alarmed numerous Texas residents was likely just a big meteor and not wreckage from colliding satellites, experts said Monday.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Roland Herwig said the fireball seen across a wide stretch of the state Sunday morning probably was a natural phenomenon and not debris from last week's collision between an Iridium communications satellite and a Russian military space vehicle.

And Preston Starr, observatory manager at the University of North Texas, said it probably was a meteor about the size of a pickup truck with the consistency of a chunk of concrete.

The Williamson County sheriff's office in central Texas said it received so many emergency calls about the light in the sky that it sent deputies out in a helicopter to look for a plane crash.

The FAA had said during the weekend that the fireball possibly was caused by falling debris from the satellites. It also posted a weekend warning telling pilots to watch out for satellite debris but rescinded the warning Sunday, Herwig said.

Starr said the object's trajectory was wrong for it to have been satellite debris. And he said such objects would be too small and moving too slowly to produce a flare so widely visible during the day.

``It would have looked like a blip, and nobody would be able to notice if it were a daytime entry,'' Starr said.

Starr said objects as large as his estimate for the one spotted Sunday enter the atmosphere about eight or 10 times a year. It was probably moving between 15,000 and 40,000 mph, he said.

Despite its initial large size, if any of the object survived the fiery descent through the atmosphere, it would be smaller than a fist, he said.

United Airlines denies its workers filed reports about saucerlike object hovering at O'Hare

It sounds like a tired joke--but a group of airline employees insist they are in earnest, and they are upset that neither their bosses nor the government will take them seriously.

A flying saucerlike object hovered low over O'Hare International Airport for several minutes before bolting through thick clouds with such intense energy that it left an eerie hole in overcast skies, said some United Airlines employees who observed the phenomenon.Was it an alien spaceship? A weather balloon lost in the airspace over the world's second-busiest airport? A top-secret military craft? Or simply a reflection from lights that played a trick on the eyes?

Officials at United professed no knowledge of the Nov. 7 event--which was reported to the airline by as many as a dozen of its own workers--when the Tribune started asking questions recently. But the Federal Aviation Administration said its air traffic control tower at O'Hare did receive a call from a United supervisor asking if controllers had spotted a mysterious elliptical-shaped craft sitting motionless over Concourse C of the United terminal.

No controllers saw the object, and a preliminary check of radar found nothing out of the ordinary, FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said. The FAA is not conducting a further investigation, Cory said. The theory is the sighting was caused by a "weather phenomenon," she said.

The UFO report has sparked some chuckles among controllers in O'Hare tower.

"To fly 7 million light years to O'Hare and then have to turn around and go home because your gate was occupied is simply unacceptable," said O'Hare controller and union official Craig Burzych.

Some of the witnesses, interviewed by the Tribune, said they are upset that neither the government nor the airline is probing the incident.

Whatever the object was, it could have interfered with O'Hare's radar and other equipment, and even created a collision risk, they said.

The Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (the term that extraterrestrial-watchers nowadays prefer over Unidentified Flying Object) was first seen by a United ramp worker who was directing back a United plane at Gate C17, according to an account the worker provided to the National UFO Reporting Center.

The sighting occurred during daylight, about 4:30 p.m., just before sunset.

All the witnesses said the object was dark gray and well defined in the overcast skies. They said the craft, estimated by different accounts to be 6 feet to 24 feet in diameter, did not display any lights.

Some said it looked like a rotating Frisbee, while others said it did not appear to be spinning. All agreed the object made no noise and it was at a fixed position in the sky, just below the 1,900-foot cloud deck, until shooting off into the clouds.

Witnesses shaken by sighting

"I tend to be scientific by nature, and I don't understand why aliens would hover over a busy airport," said a United mechanic who was in the cockpit of a Boeing 777 that he was taxiing to a maintenance hangar when he observed the metallic-looking object above Gate C17.

"But I know that what I saw and what a lot of other people saw stood out very clearly, and it definitely was not an [Earth] aircraft," the mechanic said.

One United employee appeared emotionally shaken by the sighting and "experienced some religious issues" over it, one co-worker said.

A United manager said he ran outside his office in Concourse B after hearing the report about the sighting on an internal airline radio frequency.

"I stood outside in the gate area not knowing what to think, just trying to figure out what it was," he said. "I knew no one would make a false call like that. But if somebody was bouncing a weather balloon or something else over O'Hare, we had to stop it because it was in very close proximity to our flight operations."

Some joke, others research

The databases of various UFO-watching groups are full of accounts filed by pilots about sightings of unknown aircraft and anomalies that affected navigational equipment onboard planes.

Whether any of the UFO incidents are real or merely the result of individual perceptions, some experts say the events pose a potential safety risk to pilots and their passengers.

"There have been documented cases where safety appears to have been implicated, and more and more we are coming to the point of view that we are dealing with an intelligent phenomenon," said Richard Haines, science director at the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena, a private agency.

"We must be proactive before an aircraft goes down," said Haines, a former chief of the Space Human Factors Office at NASA's Ames Research Center.
Haines is investigating the O'Hare incident. He said he has determined that no weather balloons were launched in the vicinity of O'Hare on Nov. 7.

"It's absurd that the military would be conducting aerial test flights" near the airport, Haines said.

All the witnesses to the O'Hare event, who included at least several pilots, said they are certain based on the disc's appearance and flight characteristics that it was not an airplane, helicopter, weather balloon or any other craft known to man.

United denies UFO report

They're not sure what was hanging out for several minutes in the restricted airspace, but they are upset that no one in power has taken the matter seriously.

A United spokeswoman said there is no record of the UFO report. She said United officials do not recall discussion of any such incident.

"There's nothing in the duty manager log, which is used to report unusual incidents," said United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy. "I checked around. There's no record of anything."

The pilots of the United plane being directed back from Gate C17 also were notified by United personnel of the sighting, and one of the pilots reportedly opened a windscreen in the cockpit to get a better view of the object estimated to be hovering 1,500 feet above the ground.

The object was seen to suddenly accelerate straight up through the solid overcast skies, which the FAA reported had 1,900-foot cloud ceilings at the time.

"It was like somebody punched a hole in the sky," said one United employee.

Witnesses said they had a hard time visually tracking the object as it streaked through the dense clouds.

It left behind an open hole of clear air in the cloud layer, the witnesses said, adding that the hole disappeared within a few minutes.

The United employees interviewed by the Tribune spoke on condition of anonymity.

Some said they were interviewed by United officials and instructed to write reports and draw pictures of what they observed, and that they were advised by United officials to refrain from speaking about what they saw.

Federal agency backtracks

Like United, the FAA originally told the Tribune that it had no information on the alleged UFO sighting. But the federal agency quickly reversed its position after the newspaper filed a Freedom of Information Act request.

An internal FAA review of air-traffic communications tapes, a step toward complying with the Tribune request, turned up the call by the United supervisor to an FAA manager in the airport tower, Cory said.

Cory said the weather might have factored into what the witnesses thought they saw.

"Our theory on this is that it was a weather phenomenon," she said. "That night was a perfect atmospheric condition in terms of low [cloud] ceiling and a lot of airport lights. When the lights shine up into the clouds, sometimes you can see funny things. That's our take on it."

Milton Torres (Ret. USAF Maj.) is finally speaking about his UFO encounter. The British Ministry of Defense declassified his file in October, 2008.

Milton Torres, a United States Air Force pilot who stated that on 20th May 1957 he was ordered to open fire on a UFO that was being tracked on radar. He was based at RAF Manston in Kent and was scrambled to intercept a UFO that had been tracked over Kent. He claims that he came within seconds of firing off a salvo of 24 rockets when the UFO accelerated away at a speed of around Mach 10. Torres stated that he was subsequently warned to stay silent about the incident and only mentioned it years afterwards, at a reunion. While Torres has gone on the record and given a number of media interviews, following the release of the documents from the MoD files, most people have not realised that the account in the MoD file is not an official USAF or MoD witness statement.

It is a transcript of an interview with Torres, undertaken years after the event and forwarded to MoD by a ufologist. The ufologist then speculated that the incident was part of some secret test, which is patently false, as such tests would be conducted in the restricted airspace of various ranges over the sea. Needless to say, one does not conduct tests involving the potential firing of live weapons over the mainland UK! Torres is clearly an honourable man, recalling a difficult and potentially life threatening mission.

But I would suggest that ufologists need to track down the original 1957 paperwork if they are to get to the bottom of this incident. Torres is not the only pilot to have been ordered to open fire on UFOs. General Parviz Jafari from Iran and Comandante Huertas from Peru were placed in similar positions and their stories, in their own words, can be found on the Coalition for Freedom of Information website.
